Ryan O’Reilly, from Chandler’s Ford, UK, is a songwriter whose Irish family & English upbringing combine to create a passionate storyteller. A meandering path began with performing open-mics in Toronto, studying poetry in Dublin and street-performing on London’s Portobello Road. Ryan gained a reputation from fan-booked tours and headlining shows in medieval churches November – Live at St Pancras Old Church, London, 2012 becoming a fan favourite.
The Northern Line (2016) a record detailing Ryan’s twenties in London was released on Qatar’s first indie label; DNA Records. I Can’t Stand the Sound (2018) was written on a journey across America and recorded in a cinema in Brooklyn with members of Toronto’s Dwayne Gretzky. Third album Other Plans is a record written in Berlin in the emptiness of the pandemic era. Released early 2023 it was produced by Spencer Cullum & David Granshaw – recorded at Chale Abbey, Isle of Wight.
Ryan has worked with long-time collaborator Blair Mowat on music featured in 2023 film Dr Jekyll and ITV series; After The Flood (including original end-credits music) & McDonald & Dodds. Ryan also collaborated with Jadea Kelly on music used for ABC series Station 19.
Ryan has co-written with internationally acclaimed artists such as Amistat (Germany), Naviband (Belarus) & Flyte (Winchester).
