After the sell out success with the Kevin Davy Band and above all with a mixed and diverse audience spanning ages and cultures we are proud to announce our next night in Spring. The inaugural night saw a fine blend of old and new jazz with headliner Kevin G. Davy playing a well received modal and groove based set.
We are very proud to present one of the UK’s finest jazz & soul singers, songwriter and musician who was nominated as vocalist of the year in 2025 by Jazz FM and whose LP Below Dawn gained critical acclaim and wider support from the likes of Jazz FM ,Giles Petersen on 6 music and appearing on Jo Whiley’s BBC R2 show. Live she has played various festivals as well as established venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Manchester Jazz Festival & the eponymous (Dean St ) Pizza Express Jazz Club.
As one of the few emerging artists to be taken up by Serious Take 5 programme her material blends meaningful lyrics with a profound responsive sensitivity towards the music covering a range of issues affecting societal change and women’s identity. Previous recipients have included Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, Laura Jurd and Emma Jean Thackray.
Live Support comes with local jazz Band:“B Natural”who play across venues in Winchester and played an ideal warm up set last time from standards to bossas.
We are dedicated to nurturing new talent and previously wrote music courses at the BRIT School as well as providing students with the opportunity to play at venues like the blue note and the Royal Festival Hall. So initial live support will be from:The Winchester Jazz Collective from Winchester University who last time played an energetic mix of jazz and funk with some original compositions from their singer Emily May.
